Jarek Bothur Quartet (Poland)

Besides its leader – Jarek Bothur, the quartet also includes Jakub Pluzek, Maks Mucha and Grzegorz Maslowski.

All are students at the Music Academy in Katowice. Although young they are already established names on the Polish jazz stage, with numerous commitments to various projects. Jarek Bothur (saxophone).

Works with some of the best known Polish jazz musicians like Janusz Muniak, Zbigniew Wegehaupt and Krzysztof Pacan. First Prize in the Jazz Nad Odra individual contest in Wroclaw; Grand Prix and the New Jazz Hope title of the Novum Jazz Festival in Lomza; Grand Prix at Jazzda - Jazz Competition in Swidnik; Grand Prix at the Nadzieje Warszawy festival 2007 (with Bogna Kicinska Quintet); Grand Prix at Jazz Standards Festival, Siedlce 2006 (with Bednarska Five Quintet). Jakub Pluzek (piano). Finalist and laureate of the prestigious Montreux Jazz Piano Competition.

First Prize in the Jazz Nad Odra festival, Wroclaw 2010; Grand Prix at the Piano Jazz Festival, Warsaw 2007; Grand Prix at Jazz Juniors, Krakow 2008; Grand Prix at Zlota Tarka 2009; Grand Prix at the Jazz Standards Festival, Siedlce 2008. Maks Mucha (double bass). Twice recipient of the Biggest Talent of the Festival award of the Tarnow International Jazz Contest (2009 and 2010).

Works with Arek Skolik (CD Detour Ahead, 2010), as well with Janusz Muniak and Trio MP3. Grzegorz Maslowski (percussion). Headed a rhythm & drum workshop during the Jazz Voicingers Festival in Zory in 2010. Grand Prix at the Jazz Juniors Competition 2010 in Krakow; Grand Prix at Jazzda - Jazz Competition, Swidnik 2010 (with the Jan Malecha Quartet); Grand Prix at the Blues, Rock, Jazz Warsaw Festival 2009 (with The Transgress band); Grand Prix at the Miles Davis Jazz Improvisation Contest, Kielce 2004.
